Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota provides a confidential emergency shelter for adult victims and their children escaping domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The shelter is a locked and secure facility equipped with cameras and an alarm system that allow direct contact with police dispatch. Our goal is to provide a safe and empowering environment for those who are escaping violence at home.
Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered. Basic knowledge, understanding and experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault preferred. Good listener, self-motivated, team player. Ability to respond effectively to crises. Oral and written communications skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Direct client services to include trauma informed care, advocacy, in-take, protection orders, and sexual assault.
· Document all interactions as required.
· Maintain safety and security precautions.
· Crisis intervention and safety planning with clients/potential clients.
· Respond to emergency requests and/or needs by clients.
· Rotate on call duties as assigned.
On-Call Schedule:
- Overnight on-call shift
- Weekend availability
- Holiday Rotation
