Position: Full-Time Medication Aid (Nights)

Countryside Living Assisted and Independent Living Facility is seeking an independent, self-motivated medication aide to provide effective and efficient care including housekeeping, laundry, shower/dressing assistance and administer medications to residents. This is a full-time position. The hours are 10:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holidays.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications in a correct and timely manner
  • Other essential functions of position:
    • Light housekeeping
    • Serve meals using standards to maintain sanitation.
    • Preparing dining rooms and tables.
  • Document and report to nurse any changes in resident behavior, weight, blood pressure, medication errors, and any other pertinent information regarding resident.
 
Experience:
  • SD Medication aide credentials preferred but will train right candidate
  • Highschool diploma required
 
Job Type: Full-time night shift will be 10:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.

Full Job Description:
  • Provide emergency care to residents when necessary.
  • Requisition adequate medications and supplies to administer medications in a timely manner.
  • Document and report to nurse any changes in resident behavior, weight, blood pressure, medication errors, and any other pertinent information regarding resident.
  • Administer medications in a correct and timely manner.
  • Complete all documentation related to resident's medication administration.
  • Document any adverse effects of drug therapy and report to nurse immediately.
  • Identify safety hazards and initiate corrective action immediately.
  • Identify resident problems and emergency situations.
  • Follow facility Residents' Rights policies and procedures.
  • Participate in facility educational program.
  • Respond to residents' call for assistance promptly.
  • Verify accuracy of narcotic count, check emergency supplies and exchange keys.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff in facility.
  • Be responsible for the safety of residents.
  • Come to work in a clean, neat uniform and present a professional appropriate appearance.
  • Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
  • Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, and timely manner.
  • Observe infection control procedures.
  • Assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook.
  • Observe all facility policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.
