The Mitchell School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Prevention Specialist to support the overall well-being of students and help foster a safe, positive school environment. This full-time, 10-month (210-day) position focuses on proactive education and mentoring in areas critical to student development and school climate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional development and training for administrators, faculty, and staff in the areas of:
- Drug, alcohol, and tobacco prevention
- Anti-bullying initiatives
- School climate improvement strategies
- Deliver direct support to students through:
- Individual and group mentoring
- Classroom-based education
- Crisis support and early intervention efforts
- Collaborate with school and district leaders to implement and maintain prevention programming.
- Serve as a resource and liaison to families and community partners regarding student wellness and prevention.
- Support school-wide efforts that promote positive behavior, student resilience, and a healthy learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Various certifications will be considered (e.g., education, counseling, social work, prevention).
- Relevant experience and training may be considered in addition to—or in place of—formal certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- A deep commitment to student health, safety, and success.
