Position Summary

The High School Computer Science / Technology Instructor provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction that prepares students for college, career, and technical pathways in technology-related fields. The instructor will teach foundational and advanced computer courses while helping students develop problem-solving, technical, and workforce-ready skills through hands-on, project-based learning. 

The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities and is excited to develop new courses and learning experiences as technology and workforce needs evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in computer applications, programming, web design, animation, and digital media.
  • Provide instruction in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and digital productivity tools.
  • Integrate computer science concepts, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use.
  • Introduce students to emerging fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity fundamentals, automation, and data literacy.
  • Develop real-world, project-based learning experiences aligned with CTE standards.
  • Develop and maintain weekly lesson plans aligned to district curriculum, state CTE standards and outcomes.
  • Provide opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized certifications.
  • Assess student learning and maintain accurate records of progress.
  • Collaborate with local industry partners, technical colleges, staff, counselors, and CTE director to support career readiness. 
  • Maintain classroom technology and support safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with high school & district technology technicians to maintain technology, ensure software & hardware remain current, and assist in planning for a computer lab updates during scheduled replacement cycles.
  • Seek & pursue grant opportunities to help enhance classroom technology, expand student opportunities & support innovation within the program.
  • Maintain yearly program budget.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, programming concepts, and instructional technology.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
