Position: Classroom Teacher Aide
Location: Longfellow Elementary
Reports To: Classroom Teacher & Building Principal
Status: 7 hours daily at $16/hr.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Classroom Teacher Aide to support instructional activities, classroom management, and day-to-day operations within the classroom. The ideal candidate is dependable, caring, and able to work collaboratively with the lead teacher to create a positive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Support classroom instruction by working with small groups of students to reinforce academic skills.
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students who need help staying engaged, following directions, or completing tasks.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain instructional materials, including copying, laminating, cutting, and assembling items as needed.
- Assist the teacher with classroom management, helping maintain a safe, respectful, and well-structured learning environment.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, hallway transitions, arrival, and dismissal.
- Support students who require accommodations or modifications, including the use of assistive technology or adapted materials.
- Set up and clean up activities, learning stations, and classroom projects.
- Help maintain classroom organization, supplies, and bulletin boards.
- Communicate relevant student observations to the teacher to support planning and interventions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school policies.
