Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota seeks a results-oriented leader to serve as the coordinator of our academic success services. This is a 12-month staff position with comprehensive benefits. The position provides academic support to current students while collaborating with academic departments and student support offices to ensure student success and persistence to graduation. The coordinator supports students in evaluating their academic abilities, establishing academic goals, accessing appropriate sources of support, and discerning career and vocational callings. The coordinator is responsible for the course development and instruction of our workplace preparation course: Post College Success. Other responsibilities include leading the tutoring program, serving as a preliminary advisor to undeclared students, supporting students on academic probation, supporting student internships, and promoting local career fairs and job opportunities. Preferred start day is mid-July 2024. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a master’s degree in education, higher education administration, or a related field.
- Have a minimum of three years of experience in academic support services, with a demonstrable record of success in improving retention and implementing successful academic support programs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a student-centered and inclusive learning environment.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of current trends and best practices in higher education.
- Be comfortable with and willing to learn the use of digital technologies to monitor student progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of academic support programs.
