The Mitchell Republic invites community members to attend Moving Mitchell Forward, an evening designed to bring people together for meaningful conversation about the future of Mitchell. This free event will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Palace City Brewing in Mitchell, South Dakota.
The event will feature a three-part speaker panel with local voices from education, business, and local government. Panelists will share insights, perspectives, and ideas centered on how Mitchell can continue to grow and move forward as a community.
Education panel speakers:
- Joe Childs, Mitchell School District superintendent
- Dan Kittle, Dakota Wesleyan University president
- Theresa Kriese, Mitchell Technical College president
Business panel speakers:
- Mike Lauritsen, Mitchell Area Chamber and Development Corporation CEO
- Austen Iverson, Owner of Iverson Auto Group
- Brett Farnham, Owner of Palace City Brewing and Dental Designs
Local government panel speakers:
- Jordan Hanson, Mitchell mayor
- Tim Goldammer, Mitchell city council member
- Randy Reider, Davison County Commission chair
The event is free to attend and open to the public, and a food truck is expected to be outside the facility. No RSVP is required as there is plenty of space for all to join us.
Community members are encouraged to attend, listen, and take part in the conversation. This event is an opportunity to connect with neighbors, hear local perspectives, and engage in thoughtful discussion about what’s next for Mitchell.
